Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a historic blueprint that gives fresh momentum to the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat missions, laying a strong foundation for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said the budget presents an ambitious roadmap to strengthen domestic manufacturing, reduce import dependence, and position India as a global production and supply hub.
In a video message, the Prime Minister said the budget balances fiscal prudence with sustained capital expenditure, calling it a “Reform Express” that converts aspirations into concrete outcomes. He highlighted targeted support for key sunrise and strategic sectors such as biopharma, semiconductors, green energy, electric vehicles, advanced electronics, capital goods, and textiles to boost investment and job creation.
Mr Modi said MSMEs have been given enhanced access to finance and markets to help them scale from “local to global.” He also underscored the budget’s focus on empowering youth through skilling, innovation, and infrastructure, reinforcing India’s role as a reliable global economic partner.
