The island of Socotra resonates bleak statistics in terms of health system and resources. In fact, lack of competent medical personnel, elevate losses during outbreaks like cholera, measles, and dengue fever. Its 83,000 population rely on 32 health facilities, most of which are overcrowded, with no central public health laboratory or emergency response storage.

The program will help in improvement of mother and child health services by keeping 80% of health institutions in its ambit and bracing them for emergencies. A health and nutrition coordination platform will be created along with enhancement of real-time data collection.

The UAE has a longstanding history of assisting underprivileged communities. This humanitarian cooperation aims to strengthen Socotra’s health system and promote long-term health security in Yemen.
