Conducted under the Strategic Forces Command, the launch validated all operational and technical parameters, according to the Ministry of Defence.
The tested missile is a variant of the Agni-5, India’s indigenously developed intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 5,000 km. Designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Agni-5 represents a critical component of India’s long-term security strategy.
This test follows the March 2024 trial where DRDO equipped the system with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, enabling a single launch to strike multiple targets. With each successful trial, India reaffirms its strategic deterrence capabilities and technological edge in missile defence
