The announcement came during the G20 Trade and Investment Ministers’ Meeting in Gqeberha, South Africa, where Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada met with his South Korean counterpart Yeo Han-Koo.
Prasada also held bilateral meetings with ministers from Japan, South Africa, and the Netherlands, focusing on expanding trade, technology partnerships, and investments. These dialogues aim to deepen India’s global economic cooperation and open new channels for collaboration in manufacturing, digital technologies, and clean energy.
On global trade reforms, Prasada reiterated India’s call to restore the World Trade Organization’s two-tier dispute settlement system, emphasizing its role in ensuring fairness and efficiency in global trade governance.
He also highlighted the urgent need for a permanent solution to public stockholding for food security, stressing that developing nations must retain affordable access to food resources.
India’s position was clear—a fair, inclusive, and development-driven global trade system remains central to its international agenda.
