Tanvi Sharma, reigning Badminton Asia Women’s Team gold medallist and current World No. 2 in BWF Junior Rankings, will spearhead a strong 19-member Indian contingent at the upcoming Badminton Asian Junior Championships 2025 in Solo, Indonesia, from July 18 to 27.
Joining her at the forefront are the junior men’s doubles World No. 1 pair, Bhargava Ram Arigela and Viswa Tej Gobburu, as India competes in both team and individual events.
📆 Team Event: July 18–22
📆 Individual Event: July 23–27
Tanvi leads the women’s singles charge, while Rounak Chouhan, ranked World No. 12 in junior boys’ singles, will add firepower on the men’s side. Rising star Vennala Kalagotla will showcase her dual talent in singles and doubles, and the trusted duo of Bhargava and Viswa Tej will be India’s prime bet in men’s doubles.
Carrying Forward a Legacy
India has previously secured nine medals at the U-19 Asian Junior Championships, with legends like P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen paving the path to glory. This year’s team is poised to elevate that legacy and bring home top honours.
The team competition will feature a relay-style format, where the first team to reach 110 points wins. After the group stages, top teams will advance to the knockout rounds.
On the Road to the World Stage
Seen as a critical preparatory platform for the BWF Junior World Championships, set to be held later this year at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati, this championship is more than a tournament—it’s a proving ground.
To ensure optimal preparation, the full squad will participate in a national training camp at NCE Guwahati from July 4–15, focusing on fitness, tactical drills, and team cohesion.
Federation’s View
“India’s junior badminton ecosystem is brimming with potential,” said Sanjay Mishra, General Secretary of the Badminton Association of India (BAI). “This camp will transform talent into triumph. With champions like Tanvi, Bhargava, Viswa Tej, Rounak, Vennala, and Rujula, we’re not just preparing for Asian success—we’re building for global dominance.”
