Steady Steps to Success
After graduating from the Wharton School of Business in 2002, Mr. Pirojsha completed his Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University in 2004. He worked with Godrej Properties from 2004 to 2006 and went on to completing MBA from Columbia Business School in 2008 before re-joining the organisation as Executive Director. In 2010, he led the initial public offering through which Godrej Properties was successful in raising USD 100 million.
Appointed as the CEO of Godrej Properties in 2012, Mr. Pirojsha has led the company through a phase of rapid growth, thereby enabling it to emerge as one of India’s leading and fastest growing real estate developers. Under his quintessential leadership, Godrej Properties for the first time became India’s number 1 publicly listed real estate developer by sales during the Financial Year 2016. Owing to his dedicated efforts, he eventually rose to the position of the Executive Chairman of the organisation in 2017.
Embracing Sustainable Development
Under his able leadership, Godrej Properties has always been at the forefront of the sustainable development movement and received an award in 2013 from the former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for being one of the companies in India from across sectors to have driven the green building movement. The Clinton Foundation has partnered with Godrej Properties for its large township project, Godrej Garden City, which was selected as one of two projects in India and seventeen from around the world to work with the Clinton Climate Initiative towards the goal of creating a Climate Positive Development. In the year 2016, Godrej Properties was ranked number 2 in Asia and number 5 in the World in terms of its sustainability performance in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark Report.
A Plethora of Awards
Mr. Pirojsha has received numerous awards and recognitions owing to his exceptional leadership skills. The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has conferred the IGBC Green Champion Award 2016 on him for his contribution to the sustainability of India’s built environment. He was selected as the ‘Real Estate Person of the Year’ at the Construction Week India Awards 2013 and the ‘Person of the Year’ at the GIREM (Global Initiative for Restructuring Environment and Management) Awards 2013. In the year 2014, he received the Best People CEO Award from the National Human Resource Development Network. The Economic Times included him in their 40 under 40 list, a list of the most impactful business leaders under 40 years of age in 2015. He was also listed by GQ Magazine as one of the 50 most influential young Indians. He was chosen as a ‘Young Leader’ at the Global Leadership for Business Excellence 2016 Awards. Prior to joining Godrej Properties, he served as the additional private secretary to the Minister of State for External Affairs in New Delhi and worked as an intern in the New York Senate Office of Hillary Clinton. He is widely travelled and has visited over 90 countries in 6 continents and his interests include cricket, food, politics, chess, scuba diving, and rarebook collecting. His better half is his pillar of strength and he likes to unwind by spending time with his two adorable daughters.
